A Poem: I am Waiting
I am waiting for you in the rain.
I am waiting for you through the music I am playing.
I am waiting to see your image swagger through the shadows
and rescue me from a house full of noise.
I am waiting for you in the dark.
I am waiting for you to hear the pleas in my eyes,
hear the tears in my sighs,
sense the ever-growing need for you to be there.
I am waiting for you in the light.
I am waiting for you in the morning time
when I lay in bed awake,
before the rest of the world rises and I can’t put my mind back to bed.
I am waiting for you to come to me and put an end to this painful yearning.
I am waiting for you to recognize what I need,
instinctively,
from just a look I am waiting
for you to understand like no one else has ever understood before
or will ever understand again.
I am waiting for you
to untie this knotted mess that has become me
I am waiting for you, for both of you
I am waiting.
