Untitled Poem circa 2001
When it rains and floods the plains of my familiar, I am bombarded with puzzle-pieced collages shatter-dreamed masterpieces painted pictures of a past that was but never will be.

Rare Polaroids and Snapshots of Jean-Michel... →
In preparation for my upcoming trip to Paris, I’m obsessed with all things Basquiat. In celebration of what would have been the artist’s 50th birthday, seems like everyone is talking about him. Here are some rare photos courtesy of Vanity Fair.

I've changed yet Starbucks caramel sauce has not.
Chasing the feeling Starbucks gave me umpteen years ago when I was a fresh-faced high schooler addicted to caramel mochas. Back when “going to Starbucks” was akin to seeing a Broadway play-something the “cultured” people did. On the weekends. Out of town. I am waiting to see your image swagger through the shadows and rescue me from a house full of noise.   I am waiting for you in the dark.  I am waiting for you to hear the pleas in my eyes, hear the tears in my sighs, sense the ever-growing need for you to be there.   I am waiting for you in the light. I...

Breadwinner
As a girl, I never pictured myself the breadwinner.  Growing up in Nashville, Tennessee, I was not so much a Southern Belle, as I was a product of good ole’ Southern values.  Go to church on Sundays. Come home and cook a feast for your family.  Get the babies to bed. Get your family’s week started off on the right track. I could see myself one day staying home, chipping away at the time by fussing...

Poem 2
the way you wield so wrecklessly your new-found powers over me is a thing more frightening than taking a plunge into the deep end for like i told you: i can’t swim. or can i? knowing my secret is in your heart locked and you yourself shall keep the key of it makes me rethink makes me wonder makes me want to try at least to tread.
